Tombstone Territorial Days - Sunday

Today we went into town to watch the parade, see some traditional Mexican dancers, and watch an old-time baseball game.

These are some friends I met in town.
I think the most fun was the baseball game.  It was between the Bisbee Black Sox and the REAL Tucson Saguaros.  We sat on the Saguaros side, because no one else was sitting there, and we thought someone should cheer for them.  Then one of their players filled us in on the rules they play by (which are basically 1880's rules) so I was glad we picked that spot.

First of all, they don't wear gloves.  If a ball is caught after one bounce, the striker (batter) is out, but anyone else on base can keep running.  If you score a run, you have to ring the cow bell, or it doesn't count.  If you start running, and the ball that was hit goes foul, you have to hustle back to your base or you can get out... no leisurely strolling back.  No balls and strikes are called, unless the arbitrator (umpire) decides to start calling them after awhile.  Cranks (the fans) can catch balls hit out of the field, and make an out.  And if a call is close, the crowd can help decide the call.  There were a few more, but those were the best ones.
We also watched the "non-motorized" parade, which meant they walked, rode a horse, or rode in something pulled by a horse.
After the parade, the Ballet Folklorico La Paloma Dancers put on a show.
We watched a couple of the groups, but then wanted to get to the ballgame.  These are more of the dancers, waiting their turn.
This morning, we took a walk about a mile up the path behind our park, and found where it joins with an old railroad bed.  We could walk all the way into town on it, if we wanted.  Budger liked it, because he got to run free for a long while.

And there's our park, way down there!
