Road trip to Bisbee

Yesterday, Brad's niece Brenda from San Diego drove over to visit for the weekend.  So fun to have a visitor!!  I've met many of Brenda's cousins and aunts and uncles back in Michigan, but she and I have only chatted on Facebook, so it was great to finally meet!

We decided to drive down to Bisbee for the day.  It's about 20 miles away, and it's one of the places Brad and I had been intending to check out while we were here.  A very funky little artist community, former mining town, and right on the Mexican border.  We had fun wandering in and out of little shops, and we had a delicious lunch at a little restaurant.

Attack of the giant flies!!!
Around one corner we spotted a little guitar shop... but not just any ordinary guitar shop.  This guy makes guitars out of suitcases, auto rims, parts of doors, and is putting together a string bass made from an oil drum. So cool!
More street art and scenery
Very narrow, windy streets.  Our giant truck was not happy.  Luckily e were able to find parking, and walked around most of the town.
One of the big events in Bisbee is the 1000 Steps Run.  Bisbee is very hilly and has lots of stairways.  This is the beginning of the run.
On the way home we had to stop in Tombstone so Brenda could see it.

This local character is always out on the street in Tombstone, entertaining and having the best time.

Steaks on the grill,  and fried potatoes for dinner.  Potatoes are one of those potassium-rich foods that I'm supposed to be avoiding, but apparently if you soak them in water, you can leech out most of the potassium.  So we are trying that for tonight.  I sliced them up this morning, and left them soaking all day.
