Flanner's Beach/Neuse River Campground, Croatan National Forest

We arrived at our new spot a little after noon today.  I was a little concerned when we pulled up to the camp map to check where our site was located... We had been sent an e-mail giving us site #17... And in checking out the whole loop, the one number missing from the map was 17.  Hmmmm.  We decided that surely was just a mistake, and started driving around the loop, and sure enough, there was site 17, in close proximity to 16 and 18.  Whew!

Nice-sized, easy to back-into sites.
This will be the most primitive-type place we've stayed, with the only hook-up being electricity.  That's pretty typical of National Parks, and some state park campgrounds, although most will also include water.  Luckily, as I was reading up on the campground, I noticed how they kept emphasizing they had SOME electrical sites, but never mentioned water, and Brad filled our water tank before we left this morning.

The campground is located right beside the Neuse River.  We walked around the loop to the access stairs to see the beach.
There are also several walking trails.  We took this paved one today.  It's about a mile.  There are other trails that are 5 miles.  We'll save them for tomorrow.
Just a couple of maps to show where we are.  It doesn't look like we've moved very far from our last place, but to get farther up the coast, you have to go a little ways inland.  We are the blue dot.
Again, we are at the blue dot.  Where we were this past week is in the bottom left corner.  You can barely make out where it says Ocean Isle Beach.
Tomorrow I think we're going to check out New Bern, which is just a little north of us.  It is home to Pepsi, Nicholas Sparks, and many more interesting things
