1st full Mexico Beach day

Brad and I woke up pretty early today... We haven't gotten used to being on Central Time yet.  We didn't even realize we had crossed into the central time zone until yesterday afternoon, when we were waiting for a beach bar to open (it opened at 4:00), and so we went for a walk down the beach, then came back when it was about 4:07, we thought... But then my phone just said 3:07.  What the heck??  That was earlier than the first time we had stopped!  Turns out, the time zone line changed just about a mile east of town!
Anyway, I got up at what I thought was 5:30 this morning (still WAY too early!) but turns out it was only 4:30.  Ugh!  I'm not sure why we were up so early, except that the dogs were pacing, but we had been sleeping in till 8:00-8:30 before.  The park is nice and quiet, so that's not an excuse.

By about 7:30, we were ready to get busy, so we walked down to the beach and took a nice long walk.  No new sand dollars, though.

After lunch back at the RV, we chilled for awhile, and we're just about ready to head back down to the beach again.  The bar/restaurant we were waiting to open yesterday, turned out it's on its winter hours and only open Thursday-Sunday now, so we'll try it out tonight.

Non-Mexico Beach related, just RV-living related... You have to be sure you park your RV in the correct direction for water/sewer/electricity hook-ups.  If they are not drive-though sites, this usually means backing the RV in, which thankfully Brad is very good at.  However, if you want to be able to open your awning, you need to position things better than this:

I'm the directional navigator when we're parking, pointing which direction Brad needs to turn the RV while he is backing in.  At our last place, we had everything perfectly level after backing in, but realized the living room slide-out was not going to open, because of how close we were to the electric outlet post.  So we had to reposition and then make things level.  This time, he had to avoid running over a stump, and still get far enough away from the electric/water hook-up.  We did all that really well, but I didn't pay attention to that tree that keeps us from opening the awning.  No big deal... We didn't open it at all at Keaton Beach, when we could have.  And we didn't hit the tree!  But it's something to think about in the future.

About 2:30 this afternoon, we headed back down to the beach and wandered through a couple of shops, then walked on the sand and in the surf (no sand dollars tonight... Boo), then we went into Toucan's, which is where we tried to go yesterday, but they were closed.

We had dinner and drinks in the open air restaurant downstairs while watching the sunset.  Brad had fried scallops and shrimp:

And I had grouper with scallops and shrimp and this amazing buttery sauce.  Soooo good!

Requisite sunset pics... What is it about the sun setting over the water??  Some of the pics show this young boy who rode up on his bike, pulling a cart.  He sat and fished for quite awhile.  Was he just there for fun, after school?  Was he trying to catch dinner for his family?  Would the fish just be extra, or a necessity?

Some fun tiki masks in the restaurant.

We started out so early this afternoon, that we ended up back "home" a little after 6:00.  Hank, Budger, and Bo were glad to see us, though.

Brad said I don't take pictures of him anymore, so here he is, looking busy.
