2nd full Mexico Beach day

Last night, Hank had a bit of a cough, but it didn't sound too bad.  This morning he was doing a little bit of the hacking and gagging thing, so we started him on the medicine the vet gave us.  Soooo grateful they were able to give us extra meds for him so we don't have to look up a vet right now.  Eventually we'll have to, but not this time, anyway.

Any time Brad and I get near a beach, we go nuts just walking in the sand and water... Yesterday's walking was over 8 miles total, on 2 different walks... We're feeling it this morning!  But we'll be right back at it today!

From our morning (4.4 mile) beach walk:

So peaceful!

I also kept having shiny things catch my eye... Big surprise, huh?  I don't know what these are, but they're very pretty.  They'll look nice scattered throughout my shell vase.

We hung out at the RV this afternoon, took a nap, walked the dogs around the park.  Early this evening we walked back down to the beach to catch the sunset... "Happened" to be at the El Governor Tiki Bar for both Happy Hour and sunset.  We talked to a guy there who said he was from Atlanta, but I called him on his accent...  Turns out, he'd been in the Atlanta area for 20-some years, but was originally from South Africa.  He was very interesting to talk to, and we chatted with him while we watched the sunset.

Seriously, how do I choose just a couple of sunset pics... I could look at this every night!

After Happy Hour at El Governor, we had intended to go home, but we had heard several times about Killers Seafood, so we decided to go there for dinner, and I'm so glad we did.  It looks like a little hole-in-the-wall place from the outside, and at some times in the year, there is a line to get in, but this is a slow time for this area, so we were able to get right in.  We sat at the bar, where there were only 2 bar stools, and were told those were the primo seats.  It was fun!  We were able to chat with the the owner most of the time we sat there, and hear the story of how he ended up there, how they renovated the building, and how he developed the place.

Our view from our seats.  The owner said he didn't want his kitchen workers stuck off in a separate room, so he put the grill behind the bar.

Brad had a tuna steak, with fries and slaw.

I had one of their specials... A soft shell crab hoagie with hush puppies.  I'd never had soft shell crab before, I guess, because I didn't know it would come out looking like... Well... A crab!  But oh my, was it ever good!  Probably the best meal we've had since we've been here!

They also had dollar bills signed and stapled up all over the place, so we added our own.

We really like it here in Mexico Beach.  Nice white sand beaches like at Panama City Beach or Pensacola Beach, but not very touristy or busy.  We'll definitely be back.  But we'll probably stay at another RV park that we saw just across the road from the beach, the El Governor RV Park.  We like where we're staying now, nothing wrong with it at all, but we have to walk several blocks to the beach.  It would be worth the extra cost to just have to cross the road to the beach.

Tomorrow night there is live music here at the RV park, a guitar player and a saxophone player.  Interesting!  We've had several people tell us they are very good.

Mexico Beach is a really small community.  I read there are just over 1000 full time residents.  Today we were in a little shop where I was picking out a new swim suit, and the lady working there said she remembered seeing us at Mango Marley's the other night, dancing.  And tonight at the Tiki Bar, the bartender lady told us she had seen us the last couple of days walking the beach.  Kinda cool, but a little creepy!  No really, it's just a product of being in a small town during their off-season.

My cute date for the night:
