Day 4: Keaton Beach

The forecast called for rain all day today, and it was overcast this morning, but not raining yet, so Brad decided to go out in his kayak to fish, right after he pointed out the shark fin circling the posts out in the water, about 20 yards off shore.

I was glad to see him returning!

The Pelicans were showing off again this morning.

It did finally start to rain, so we decided to head over to Steinhatchee, a town about 20 miles away, where we had heard there were several good restaurants.  We settled on Roy's Restaurant, which is right on the water and had a nice view.

Cute decorations inside too!

There were stained-glass decorations all around the restaurant, and when I went to get a closer look, I saw they all were by a local artist, and were for sale.  Pretty smart way to get your things seen!  A little out of my price range, though.  The fish you see on the left was about $300.  Something like the shell on the right ran about $125.

We got some coconut shrimp for an appetizer, and it came with some kind of orange sauce to dip them in.  Very good!

The appetizer actually came with 6 shrimp, but I had already eaten one.

Since we're in the apparent scallop capital of the world, Brad decided to try the scallops.  They were awesome!  (Of course, I had to try one... Or two... Or 4).

I had the broiled salmon.  It was really good too!

We thought we'd drive through town and see what else was there, and we came to the conclusion that if you didn't work for a restaurant or the marina, you probably didn't work in Steinhatchee (which is surprisingly pronounced "Steen-hatchee").

We did see a lot of Spanish moss on the trees in town.  Love!

We came home and I crashed for a bit, while Brad watched some football, and now he's entertaining me, since it has started to rain again.

Bo is checking out the fishing poles Brad brought inside.

It may be raining today, but a rainy day on the Gulf is still a day on the Gulf!

Here's our weather map right now, at 5:30 p.m.  We're the red dot in the middle.

Looks about like that for tomorrow, too.  Tuesday looks nice, which is good, because that's our last full day here.
