Hanging out with our buddies, Jimmy and Rosalyn

Today we decided to go into Plains and attend the church where President and Mrs Carter attend, and he teaches an adult Sunday School class.  Good thing we looked up service times last night, because it explains how you have to arrive super early to go through a security check.

After that, we waited in a long line to get in the church, and were frisked and searched by the secret service guys.  We were first seated in the fellowship hall, but then were lucky enough to actually get moved into the sanctuary, where Jimmy does his lesson.

This was when we were still in the fellowship hall.  He makes sure to come in to see everyone there first, and chat a bit and find out where everyone is from.

This is Miss Jan... She's the lady that keeps everything running smoothly.  She was a hoot!

Once Brad and I were seated in the sanctuary, (well, Brad had to move again, because he had been shown to a secret service guy's spot first!) Mr Carter came in the sanctuary, told a little about the work the Carter Foundation is doing, and then began his lesson.

Jimmy made the cross that is hanging behind him.

After the church service, they run people through quickly for pictures.  They run a pretty tight ship!

The pastor at the church is fairly young, and had just been there about a year and a half.  That must have been quite the surprise, to find out his second ever congregation had a President as one of the regular attendees!

    1. It was pretty cool, and the people there are so friendly and helpful, when they could really be very ticked off at this disruption in their service. The regular people (which only number about 33) have a special entrance where they go in, and a section is kept clear for them to sit.
