Quiet Days

A couple of quiet-ish days here.  The weather is still plenty warm, the golf is still good, and the gnats seem to have subsided.  The temps for the next 10 days still look like upper 70's to low 80's.  We're looking forward to seeing Brad's cousin tomorrow, who lives here in Georgia, and is driving over tomorrow to visit.

The birds and squirrels continue to tease the critters, who can't seem to pull themselves away from their watch position when we open the main door and just leave the screen door closed!

This afternoon when I took Hank and Budger for a walk, we came upon this deer cooling off in one of the ponds.  The dogs, of course, were oblivious to it (probably lucky for me!) as they were still scoping out where those dang squirrels and resident cats were.  It doesn't look like it in the picture, but this deer was HUGE!

Another interesting thing:  Brad left to go play guitar with a guy here, and soon after, I saw a sheriff's car pull around our RV and stop behind the RV next to us, the one with the two college girls.  I thought, "Uh-oh... Wonder what they or one of their friends did?"  Actually, I was kind of surprised, because they are really very quiet people.

Well, these two seemingly unrelated incidents (the deer and the sheriff) were connected.  I guess someone had hit the deer, and the sheriff was looking for it, to see if it was all right.  The sheriff had stopped Brad while he was walking over to play guitar, and asked him if he had seen a blind deer.  Now, how they know it's blind, I dont know... But I did think it was strange that, when I saw the deer, I walked closer to it to get the picture, and it never seemed to notice, or start to run away, even with two dogs in tow, so maybe it IS blind.  Anyway, the deer seemed to be taking care of any injuries on its own.

We played golf this evening, and it was still hot enough to have sweat dripping in my eyes... Oucheeee!  We've been playing a game where we take turns hitting the ball, and trying to beat our best game.  The best we've done together is 48, but today we got 50.  We still have a couple of weeks to beat our best score!
