Leisure Time RV Park, Adairsville GA

We made it into Georgia, our destination state.  We have a few more hours to go tomorrow to our "final" place (until the beginning of November!).  This park is really nothing fancy... Exactly what the reviews said online, but neat and clean and so far, pretty quiet.   It is pretty small, and mostly permanent RV residents (they were even having a Tupperware party in the office when we arrived!!).  But they do have a few spots for short-term or overnight people like us.  We may get out for a walk in a bit, but Brad is wiped out after our drive today, and it is raining off and on, so we're relaxing while I'm catching the K-State game with the awesome cable service we get!

The view out our side windows

We've run into several traffic tie-ups on our trip down here from Michigan, but today was the first time things were almost dangerous.  There had been an accident north of Chattanooga, and traffic was backed up for a mile or more.  But we couldn't see the back-up till we came over a hill (and apparently the people in front of us didn't see it either!).  Suddenly everything in front of us was stopped, there were crunched vehicles everywhere, and someone had lost the lumber they were carrying and it was scattered all over the road, along with pieces of several cars.  Oh, and it was raining.  Brad slammed on the brakes, and we managed to come to a stop inches from the crunched vehicle in front of us, and then we weaved through all the scattered car parts and crunched cars, and inched forward for about a mile till we passed the original accident, which had produced a fire.  We saw several people standing in the median by their cars, and saw one guy that was stuck in his vehicle, but able to wave out his window to let people know he was "okay"... I'm hoping everyone escaped without any major injuries.

When Brad first hit the brakes, I didn't think there was any way we were going to get stopped in time, and I spent the next few seconds (which seemed like half an hour!!) repeating, "OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH OHMYGOSHOHMYGOSHOHMYGOSH!!!!"  When we were able to stop at a rest area about 20 miles down the road, to check on the critters and the contents of the RV (everything and everybody was fine!) I apologized to Brad for not keeping my cool while he was white-knuckling it, and he admitted he wanted to tell me to shut up.  =)

But, we made it through fine.  Just one of those things we'll have to be prepared for with the traveling we'll be doing.  I have to say, I no longer have any desire to do any of the driving.

Maybe my cute t-shirt kept us safe!

  1. Your exclamation was far more polite than mine as we drove a narrow winding lane and met a Mercedes on a bend more our side than his own!
    Glad you got through safely!
Is there a separate speed limit for towed vehicles or ban on using any particular lane on a freeway?

    1. There are on a lot of freeways. Brad tried to keep to whatever rules there were for semis. He figured that was pretty safe.
