Cerritos Canyon

This afternoon we went to Cerritos Canyon to do a little more rock climbing and exploring.  We went to find the Skyline Arch and Drillpad Arch.  Knickerbocker Arch and Beehive Arch were also supposed to be close by, but we couldn't find any of the arches.  We know we were in the right place, because there are many gas wells in the area (the directions to the arches often have you parking by these gas wells) and the latitude and longitude measurements matched up.

We did see some awesome scenery, though.
Our truck is parked waaaaaaaay down there, about the middle of the picture.
And there I am, waaaaaay up there.
Okay, so one teeny little arch, but it doesn't match any of the pictures in the brochure.
Rough hiking... The app on my phone says we climbed the equivalent of 9 floors.
Gorgeous views in every direction.
Oh, and this was funny... On our morning walk this morning, we passed by these things again.
There are lots of them, maybe a dozen, around the area of the Aztec Ruins.  I was intrigued, because they all have an almost identically-shaped rock, some trees, and wood surrounding it all.  We were able to get a close look at this one, and I realized the "rock" is not a rock at all, but a fake thing to cover up the water spigot that keeps the plants irrigated.  So not any kind of monument or anything... Just a nice way to hide the non-natural part of the garden.
