Ruins Road RV Park, Aztec NM

Whew!  A long drive for us today!  It would've been a longer than normal drive on the flatlands anyway, but this drive took us through two mountain passes, one of which had road construction and was down to one lane in two different places.  But we made it in about 6-1/2 hours, and are staying put for a month, so I think we'll have time to recover.  Well, I will anyway.  I think Brad is still trying to get the circulation going through his hands that were clinched around the steering wheel for at least 6 of those hours.

This park is called Ruins Road RV Park, because it is on Ruins Road.  And it's called Ruins Road because less than half a mile from the park is the Aztec Ruins National Monument, and some ruins are there to see.  It's a really short walk, but we're parking our bodies for the rest of today and doing nothing but watching the Olympics.  We'll check out the ruins tomorrow.

Our route for today:
And another new state crossed off!
Some of our scenery today...
They take their snow fences seriously in Colorado!
Here we go, up pass #1.
Road construction #1 took us around the tunnel.  Eek!
Road construction #2... We sat for at least 10 minutes waiting for our turn to go.
Interesting road signs... Brad loved those hairpin turns.
Luckily we never had to use the bail-out lanes!
Well this is a different sign...
There are a million things to see and do within a short drive from here.  I think we'll be pretty busy the whole month!
